Mission:
International Student Connections is all about bringing people together for mutual benefit. We strive to connect International Students with one another, with American friends and with Willow Creek Chicago, so that we can all broaden our world views.
Language & Culture:
Since language can be a great hurdle for many International Students, we are currently meeting each 2nd and 4th Sunday morning after church service, as a part of the
Willow Chicago Coffee hour. This group, affectionately called the ESL Café, meets to discuss language and topics from the morning’s program. We also use this time to just get to know one another a bit better.
Holidays in the US are a time for great joy for most Americans. We want to share this joy with any International Student who does not have a place to go on these special days. As this Connections group grows, we hope to continue to provide venues for celebrating Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas with International Students.
Friendship:
When International Students and Americans share our lives, we can’t help but become great friends. Whether eating lunch at Potbelly after Sunday morning service, getting sundries at Target or discussing the life-changing concepts of Christianity, we grow to greatly respect and learn from one another’s diverse cultural backgrounds.
Getting Connected:
Whether you are an International Student or an American who wants to be connected in this fun and inspiring group, please contact Cheryl Ninemire at cninemire@wcservingvolunteer.org.
